At January 22nd’s DEC meeting, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Gary Torgow, Chairman Chemical Financial Corporation and Alicia George, Founder Java House & Artist Village Detroit, discussed the role the mayor, entrepreneurs and banks play to improve Detroit’s neighborhoods.
Mayor Duggan regularly hears what’s going on in the neighborhoods first-hand from Detroiters and knows the current challenges. He said, “If we can create an environment where enough people live in the neighborhood and we do enough to beautify the street then give them a little help to get started, then you’ll see people like Alicia George start to succeed.”
