John looks at how a generation that’s been faced with an onslaught of unprecedented events – September 11, the war on terror, Hurricane Katrina, the 2008 financial crisis, the housing crisis, the opioid epidemic, mass school shootings, climate change, racial injustice, the whiplash between the election of the first Black president and Donald Trump, and COVID-19 – to name a few. Instead, they have become more politically engaged, aiming to disrupt the status quo.
