The DEC hosted 313 Presents President Howard Handler on Tuesday, March 14, at the Fox Theatre. In a fireside chat with Music Journalist Gary Graff, Howard discussed “The Enduring Power of Live Entertainment” and answered questions from the audience.

The DEC hosted Linda Foutty, Executive Board Chair of Deloitte US, and Linda Hubbard, President & COO of Carhartt, Inc., on Tuesday, March 28, at the MotorCity Casino Hotel. In a fireside chat with DEC Board Chair and Huntington Bank’s Sandy Pierce, the panel discussed “What Does It Take for Women to Thrive in Leadership Roles Today?” and answered questions from the audience.

Teamwork is crucial to the success of any business, and as acclaimed author and speaker Ron Clark illustrates, the members of any team are the key to unlocking success. Imagine a company as a bus filled with people who either help or hinder a team’s ability to move it forward: drivers (who steer the organization), runners (who consistently go above and beyond for the good of the organization), joggers (who do their jobs without pushing themselves), walkers (who are just getting pulled along), and riders (who hinder success and drag the team down). It’s the team leader’s job to recognize how members fall into these categories, encourage them to keep the “bus” moving by working together, and know when it’s time to kick the riders off.

Stuart discussed “A Challenging Year Ahead: The U.S. Economy Experiences a Mild Recession But Slower Inflation” and answered questions from the audience.

The DEC hosted Robert Riney, President & CEO of Henry Ford Health, Ray Scott, President & CEO of Lear Corporation, and Dr. Tarek Sobh, President & CEO of Lawrence Technological University, on Thursday, May 11, at Ford Field. In a fireside chat with the DEC’s Steve Grigorian, the panel discussed “Technology Impacts on Industry and How to Prepare Future Workers Now” and answered questions from the audience.

The DEC hosted Jamie Dimon, Chairman & CEO of JPMorgan Chase & Co., on Wednesday, September 20, at MotorCity Casino Hotel. This exclusive meeting for DEC members and accompanying guests was the largest crowd since the pandemic.

In a fireside chat with Dennis Archer, Jr., Chairman & CEO of Sixteen42 Ventures, Jamie discussed JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s decade-long commitment to Detroit, as well as global financial and geopolitical issues, and answered questions from the audience.

In a fireside chat with WDIV-TV Local 4’s Devin Scillian, President Ono discussed achievements, challenges, and opportunities he sees for partnership and growth with the region and community and answered questions from the audience.

The DEC hosted The Honorable Pat McCrory, Former North Carolina Governor (R) and No Labels National Co-Chair, and The Honorable Jay Nixon, Former Missouri Governor (D) and No Labels Ballot Integrity Project Director, on Wednesday, December 13, at The MotorCity Casino Hotel. In a fireside chat with The Detroit News’ Kaitlyn Buss, the former governors discussed No Labels’ plans and why they feel No Labels presents common sense solutions to solve America’s biggest problems and answered questions from the audience.
